Being a Mother...
Please Read and Share

After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie.

She said, 'I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would Love to spend some time with you.

The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my Mother, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie. 'What's wrong, are you well,' she asked?

My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news.

'I thought that it would be pleasant to spend some time with you,' I responded 'just the two of us.' She thought about it for a moment, and then said,'I would like that very much.'

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous.

When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date.

She waited in the door with her coat on.

She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary.

She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's.

'I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed,' she said, as she got into the car.

'They can't wait to hear about our meeting.'

We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady.

After we sat down, I had to read the menu.

Her eyes could only read large print. Half-way through the entrees, I lifted my eyes and saw Mother sitting there staring at me.

A nostalgic smile was on her lips..

'It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small,' she said.

'Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor,' I responded.

During the dinner , we had an agreeable conversation nothing extraordinary but catching up on recent events of each other's life.

We talked so much that we missed the movie.

As we arrived at her house later, she said, 'I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you.' I agreed.

'How was your dinner date?' asked my wife when I got home.

'Very nice, much more so than I could have imagined,' I answered.

A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack.

It happened so suddenly that I didn't have a chance to do anything for her.

Sometime later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place Mother and I had dined.

An attached note said: 'I paid this bill in advance.

I wasn't sure that I could be there; but, nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife.

You will never know what that night meant for me.

'I love you, son'

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time:

'I love YOU' and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve.
Nothing in life is more important than your family.

Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till some 'other'
time.

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby... somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, 'normal' is history.

Somebody said you can't love the second child as much as you love the first... somebody doesn't have two or more children.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery....somebody never watched her 'baby' get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten... or on a plane headed for military 'boot camp.'

Somebody said a Mother can stop worrying after her child gets married... somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home... somebody never had grandchildren.

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her... somebody isn't a mother.

Pass this along to all the GREAT 'mothers' in your life and to everyone who ever had a mother.

This isn't just about being a mother; it's about appreciating the people in your lives while you have them.... no matter who that person is!

Watch your thoughts, they become words.

Watch your words, they become actions.

Watch your actions, they become habits.

Watch your habits, they become character.

Watch your character, for it becomes...your destiny.

'Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle'.

I'm not perfect, just forgiven. John 3:16

Being A Mother

Dedication Page

This page is as name sake, dedicate and or pay tribute to the mother in your life, either past , present and future.

It doesn't have to be any particular mother;

It could be your grandmother, your mother, step mother, foster mother, adopted mother, your wife, a sister who is a mother, a aunt who is a mother, a cousin, a niece, a friends mother, or maybe a spiritual mother, or someone who YOU look up to as a mother in YOUR life. You get the idea here I hope.

It can be any mother but the point is, it is YOU who is making the tribute or dedication to the mother in your life.

Mothers do so many countless things in our lives continuously and they do many peoples jobs for just one person.

They are the chauffeur for School. Sport after School activities.

They are the chef open from all hours.

The house cleaner.

The Laundromat.

The school teacher for homework or extra lessons if and when needed.

The nurse/the carer when you're sick or you injure yourself.

The bread winner of the home.

The shopper, clothes, groceries etc.

The bill payer.

The home seamstress.

The bouncer/the protector.

The counsellor.

The gardener.

The home decorator-designer.

There is more than likely many that I have not listed as yet, but again you get the idea.

The mother in our lives does a lot for all us and this is one of the times to tell her and show her exactly how much we appreciate them in all that they do for us.

I was actually taught by mother that you can only have one mother and by that she means the one who carries you her her body, she can feel your every movement, she then gives birth to you, nurtures you, loves you, advises you, encourages you, spends quality time with you, she cares for you, she raises you, she is there all the time for who ….YOU.

My mother has passed away now, but there is many things I would pay tribute to my mum from her wonderful smile of approvement of me, her eyes glistened, twinkled with tears when she smiled, her happiness when she watched Elvis and oh my the musicals she loved so much. It was my  mum who brought music into my life.

There were the time she taught me about planting and growing sweet peas and still to this day I grow sweet peas every year in honour of my mother and the times we spent doing this together.

There is a lot more I can add about my mum but this page is for YOU, not me, it is so I can explain about this page and then hopefully you will find wonderful words and the courage to honour your mum by sending me your dedication to your mother.

Write and record the things your mother taught you.

The things your mother liked and disliked her favourite of anything and everything.

Do you know her favourite colour, food, flower, drink, clothing item, cat. Dog.

Does your mother have a pet name for you, did she have a nic name,
Things she collected, her garden, what her room is decorated like.

Write the little things that happened and yes even the big things.
Write down your memories or her. Your proud moments.

What are her phrases or sayings, quotes, my mum use to say, "don't judge a book by its cover".

What colour hair does she have?

This will actually show you just how much you know about your mother or the mother in your life.

GIVE HER CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE.

Now it is up to you.

Write down the suggestions, ideas I have given you, maybe write some poetry or inspirational words from your heart, write her a song, honouring her or and all mothers, then maybe record them and give the recording and your text to your mother or the mother in your life, then if you want me to add your dedication to this website, then send it to me and I will add it in honour of your mother or the mother in your life.

I do hope you all have a wonderful day on Mothers Day and if you can, why not drop into the designated entertainment room on Paltalk.com or you can visit the room or you can listen from your web browser.

If you are unable to attend or listen, you can always save the site to your favourites and come back at a later date and listen to the recordings that I will be taking from the room.

Hi everyone..

This was sent to me via email.

I would really like to share these words of wisdom with all of you
hugssss ....Lu

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, "My son, the battle is between 2 "wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil.  BAD FEED

It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, Addictions, All Forms of Abuse and ego.

The other is Good. GOOD FEED

It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, Loyalty ,Respect,Compassion,Honorable and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather:
"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Here is the same story, but it is called "Grandfather Tells" which is also known as "The Wolves Within"

An old Grandfather said to his grandson, who came to him with anger at a friend who had done him an injustice,
"Let me tell you a story.

I too, at times, have felt a great hate for those that have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do.

But hate wears you down, and does not hurt your enemy.

It is like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die.

I have struggled with these feelings many times.

" He continued, "It is as if there are two wolves inside me.

One is good and does no harm.

He lives in harmony with all around him, and does not take offense when no offense was intended.

He will only fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way.

But the other wolf, ah! He is full of anger.

The littlest thing will set him into a fit of temper.

He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason.

He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great.

It is helpless anger, for his anger will change nothing.

Sometimes, it is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them try to dominate my spirit."

The boy looked intently into his Grandfather's eyes and asked, "Which one wins, Grandfather?"

The Grandfather smiled and quietly said, "The one I feed."
